Hair Cuttery in Portage, IN. The worst experience I’ve had in hair salons. I took my mother & my mentally handicap sister their on Friday June 19th, 2020. I scheduled 2 appointments online, one at 4 PM and one at 4:45pm, I received confirmation that the appointment were made by two different ladies Paige & Lisa. The confirmation read Hi ANA, “Hair Cuttery - Portage Crossings is confirming your 4:00 PM appointment for Jun 19. See you then” & “Hi BLANCA, Hair Cuttery - Portage Crossings is confirming your 4:45 PM appointment for Jun 19. See you then”
I then received the notice to confirm the appointments the day before the appointments and I confirmed both.
I arrived at Hair Cuttery at 3:45pm and we were ask to wait outside in 90° + weather, ok I understand I am a nurse but it was very hot. Paige took my mother checked her in and it took over an hour to give my mother a haircut and my mother’s hair is short. OK I get it Paige is fairly new.
At 5:15 Paige told me I can bring in my sister in so she can check her in, when Paige told me that the person scheduled (Lisa) to cut my sister’s hair was not scheduled to work that day. I became furious and lashed out. Paige called over a female whom I assume was the manager and if she wasn’t the manager Thank God! because she handled this situation poorly, after I explained to the person that I scheduled the appointment, confirm that we were coming, received a conformation, waited outside in the heat for an hour with a mentally disable sister whose appointment was for 4:45pm and it’s now almost 5:30 pm. This person showed no remorse that an obvious mistake happen and it was the Hairy Cuttery’s fault. But instead of handling the situation like a professional she appeared not to care, because she kept repeating herself as if she was a robot, “stating that every staff member that was in the back of the salon are waiting for appointments to arrive”, and cannot cut my sister’s hair. I stated “my sister had an appointment what about her”, she said oh, well we can schedule her for another day and when I became more irate she left the front desk and left Paige to fend for herself with me “the irate customer”. Paige apologize continuously, I was truly shock & disgusted that the females in your organization who I know were aware of what was happening in the front of the salon did not have any compassion. I could not believe after all that we went through as a society that not one of your employees congregating in the back of the salon stepped up to say Hey no problem, I’ll will cut your sister’s hair. I was disgusted and my sister wondering why she can’t get a haircut to make her beautiful. My heart fell to the floor. Needless to say me, my family & friends will not return to this or any establishment that has the name HAIR CUTTERY and I will make sure to post my story everywhere, people need to know how Hair Cuttery treats their mentally handicap clients.
