I brought my 10 year old daughter in for a shampoo and cut on 6/24/2019. When I booked the appointment the confirmation page listed a cost of $18, which is slightly higher than normal but still acceptable for a child's cut. The stylist, Liz, who cut my daughter's hair, did a decent job considering my daughter has naturally curly hair. The problem was upon check out when I was told the price for her haircut was $34! That is unacceptable. I later noticed the salon website states “Long hair charges may apply for select services" in fine print. Key word being SELECT services because I don't think that should apply to a haircut, let alone a child’s cut. The extra charge was not mentioned to me at all during any point of the process while I was in the salon until the end. $34 for a child's cut is unreasonable. When I questioned the price at check-out Liz stated there is an extra $10 charge for long hair and an extra charge to blow dry. My daughter's hair was probably to the middle of her back, nothing extreme. I can understand charging more for color or product on long hair but it should not be the case for a simple haircut, nor was it disclosed to me at any point. Furthermore, Liz did not blow dry my daughter's hair other than simply using a diffuser for a total of maybe one minute to make sure the curls looked right after she cut it. When we left the salon her hair was still mostly wet. I am frustrated that these random extra charges were tacked on for no valid reason. I will definitely not be returning to this salon and I would advise anyone else to ask up front about potential hidden costs. This is unethical.
