I came into the salon knowing exactly what I wanted, which was a tight spiral perm. I’ve had plenty of them in my lifetime so I was familiar with the process. It took 3 hours and my stylist, Tamara, did everything right. I paid a pretty penny for service and tips, left the salon with a wet head, knowing that I won’t see the results until it air-dried.
Throughout the day, I began to notice that there were curly parts along with very straight parts. The hair framing my face had hardly any curl to it and I was left feeling very unsatisfied. I decided I would come into the salon the next morning to see how we could resolve the issue.
Upon entering the salon, I was met with a friendly face named Jessica. She was very helpful, apologized for my dissatisfaction and began the standardized complaint process. She was in constant contact with her manager, Robyn, over the phone as she tried to wet and dry my hair to see if any more curls would come out. After that, she was told by Robyn to give me a complimentary curling product and told me that if I’m not satisfied in the next coming days, to come back in and we can redo the perm or issue a refund.
This morning, I wet my hair and used the product given to me. The curls were still very loose, if not nonexistent, so I decided to come in for a refund. Everyone knows that redoing a perm that close together would damage a woman’s hair and I am moving to TN in a few days, so I decided a refund was the best option.
I came into the salon asking for Robyn, but was instead sent Tamara. She told me that there was nothing wrong with my hair and that it was so very ~clearly~ curly in comparison to my previous “straight” hair. I told her that my hair was certainly not straight when I came in and that the result of the perm was very very similar to the hair that I already had, not at all a spiral perm like I had asked for. Tamara continued to refute everything I said with a super forced smile and kept replying “I’m just trying to satisfy your needs.”
I was very respectful and nice about the whole thing until Tamara decided to show strong passive aggression and tell me that she has 20 years of experience, so she knows more than me. She then offered to re-rod my hair after making a huge fuss, reiterating that she wants to “satisfy my needs.” I told her if she wanted to do that, she could give me a refund that I was told I could get yesterday... but alas, she refused. I commented on how unprofessional her passive aggressive attitude was and that they can keep my money, since she so clearly needed it more than I did. I wasn’t letting her touch my hair with a 10 foot pole after speaking with someone who was obviously angry with me for expressing my opinion.
All I know is that Robyn was supposed to be in the store today from 9-6. I came in and asked to speak with her, but instead got Tamara. I’m unsure if Robyn just wasn’t there or that she intentionally sent Tamara over and let such foul customer service occur. Either way, I do not recommend coming to this salon for any kind of beauty service. If you show any dissatisfaction, you will be met with a lot of attitude and no proper solution.
